THE ARVO USER MANUAL

Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Arvo—your self-sealing, automated waste system.

This guide explains everything you need to know to get started, operate the Arvo's features, replace Pods, troubleshoot issues, and care for the unit.

The Arvo is designed so that nearly every process is automated. You interact with only a few simple steps—the Arvo handles the rest.

Product Overview

Lid:

Opens automatically via a motion sensor positioned at the front of the unit. Closes automatically after 6.5 seconds unless placed in Open Mode.

Sensor Bar:

The horizontal bar on the front of the Arvo. It contains:
• The vertical motion sensor (located in the center between the (  ) shapes)
• The Touch Sensor

Touch Sensor:

A round, capacitive (no-click) touch area. Controls:
• Open Mode
• Aeration Mode
• Auto-Change Mode

It reacts to taps or presses.

Canister:

The main 17-liter chamber where the liner sits and where sealed bags drop before removal.

Pods (Liner Cartridges):

A compact, pre-installed refill containing a continuous roll of liners.
Replacements drop in quickly and can be inserted in any orientation.

Sealing Hatch:

The inner door that opens automatically when the bag is being sealed or if the trash has overfilled.

Sealing Module:

The internal mechanism consisting of:
• Four arms (two on X-axis, two on Y-axis) that gather the bag to the center
• A heat-sealing strip at the bottom center
• The automatic cutting element

It performs the entire sealing and cutting process when Auto-Change is activated.

Specifications

Dimensions: 11.4" × 9.8" × 16.1"
Capacity: 17 liters (scaled for secondary spaces)
Battery: Built-in, USB-C rechargeable
Included: Arvo unit, pre-installed Pod, 3 additional Pods, and USB-C charging cable

The Arvo arrives partially charged with multiple weeks of power for immediate use.

Setup

Out of the Box:

1. Remove the Arvo from its packaging.
2. Press the power button on the back (button will be pushed in when on).
3. You'll hear a single beep confirming the Arvo is powered on.

That's it—you're ready to use the Arvo. The Pod comes pre-installed from the factory.

Operation

Lid Activation:

The motion sensor detects movement within 15 inches directly above the Sensor Bar.
This vertical range prevents false triggers from passing movement to the side.

Lid Closing:

The lid closes automatically after 6.5 seconds unless placed in Open Mode.

If something blocks the sensor after 6.5 seconds, the Arvo will beep rapidly until the sensor is clear or you tap the Touch Sensor to enter Open Mode.

Touch Sensor Modes:

1. Open Mode
Useful when cleaning, or completing tasks requiring a continuously open lid.

To activate:
Tap once → single beep → lid stays open indefinitely.

To exit:
Tap again → lid closes and resumes automatic operation.
(You can also close the lid manually.)

2. Aeration Mode
Aerates the Canister by closing the lid and venting internal air.
Recommended after installing a new Pod or if the bag seems stuck.

To activate:
Double-tap → two beeps → lid closes → aeration begins automatically.

3. Auto-Change Mode (Sealing & Bag Release)
This is the automated bag-changing sequence.

To activate:
Press and hold the Touch Sensor.

You will hear:
• One beep (input registered)
• A brief pause
• Two beeps (Auto-Change starting)

Sequence:
The Arvo takes over from here:

1. Four internal arms pull the liner inward from both X and Y axes, gathering it to the bottom center where the heat sealer is located.

2. If trash is overfilled and blocks the arms, the Sealing Hatch automatically opens fully to prevent jamming.

3. The heat-sealing strip activates and seals the bag. If the hatch is open, you can see it illuminate. (WARNING: EXTREMELY HOT—do not insert hands or objects.)

4. Once sealed, the bag is cut and dropped into the Canister.

5. The Sealing Hatch opens (if not already open).

6. The Arvo beeps every other second until you remove the sealed bag.

7. After removing the sealed bag, close the Sealing Hatch by either tapping the Touch Sensor or manually closing it.

8. The Arvo automatically aerates and prepares the next liner section.

The full sequence takes about 30 seconds and requires one press from you.

Note: You may notice a slight rubber smell after the heat sealer activates—this is normal. Will naturally dissipate.

Indicators & Sounds

LED Indicators

Lightning bolt symbol:
• Flashing red + soft beep while performing actions: battery low
• Soft flashing red when plugged in: charging
• Green: fully charged

White dash indicator:
• Solid → lid open
• Fading → closing sequence
• Blinking → syncs with beeps during mode changes

Sound Indicators

Single beep: Open Mode activated or power-on
Double beep: Aeration Mode activated
Rapid beeping: something blocking the sensor during closure
Auto-Change beep sequence: one beep (registered), pause, two beeps (starting)
Intermittent beeping (every other second): remove sealed bag from Canister
• No beep when powering off

Pod Replacement

Your Arvo comes with the Pod pre-installed.

To replace the Pod:

1. Open the lid.
2. Tap the Touch Sensor once to keep the lid open (Open Mode).
3. Lift the square lock-ring.
4. Remove the used Pod.
5. Insert the new Pod—it's square and fits in any orientation.
6. Press the lock-ring down until flush with the Arvo.
7. Double-tap the Touch Sensor to aerate and seat the liner.

This process takes under 30 seconds.

Maintenance

Cleaning
• Use a microfiber cloth for the exterior.
• Mild spray cleaner or wipes are safe.
• Do not submerge the Arvo.
• Avoid spraying cleaner directly into the Sensor Bar or Sealing Module.

Battery
• Charge with any USB-C cable.
Red indicator = low battery
Flashing red while plugged in = charging
Green = fully charged
• A full charge lasts for months of normal household use.
• No power-saving or sleep mode needed—the Arvo conserves battery by default.

Troubleshooting

Arvo behaving unexpectedly:
1. Power off using the rear button (button will extend out slightly when off)
2. Wait 3 seconds
3. Power on again (button pushed in, single beep)

This resolves most sensor/software glitches.

Lid opens/closes repeatedly while charging:
This usually indicates unstable power from a wall outlet or power strip.

Fix: Try a different outlet or power strip.

Auto-Change halts mid-cycle:
1. Ensure the Sealing Hatch is fully closed
2. Tap Touch Sensor once to exit any pending mode
3. Restart the unit if needed
4. Then restart Auto-Change

Bag is not sealing cleanly:
1. Ensure nothing is inside the Sealing Hatch area
2. Restart the unit
3. Run Auto-Change again

The system corrects most minor liner misalignments automatically.

Bag seems stuck or won't drop into Canister:
Double-tap the Touch Sensor.
This aerates the Canister and usually resolves liner tension issues.

Pod won't sit flush:
• Check that the lock-ring is pushed firmly downward
• Pod should drop in naturally with no resistance

Warnings (Important)

• The heat-sealing strip becomes EXTREMELY HOT during sealing.
• Do not insert hands or objects into the Sealing Hatch during operation.
• Do not open or tamper with the Pod; it is factory-packed under tension and tampering could ruin the automation process.
• Do not submerge the Arvo in water.
• Keep children away during the sealing cycle.
• A slight rubber smell after sealing is normal.
